We’re going behind the counter at a local family-owned Japanese chicken speciality shop in Tokyo Japan. This is tour from inside of their kitchen from their morning open time of 5:00AM. This Tokyo hidden gem chicken shop receives farm fresh chicken deliveries daily, refrigerating them overnight to bring out the natural umami from their bones, and finally dressing them first thing the next morning, which produces an unmatched level of freshness and flavor when compared to machine processed chickens sold at the supermarket. This hidden Japanese chicken in Gotanda, is known for its umami-rich, juicy and tender meat selectively sourcing domestic free-range chickens called daisen-dori and shingen-dori from Totori and Yamanashi prefectures, which has remained unchanged since the shop was first opened. Itโ€™s one of the reasons why many of itโ€™s customers often say, they wonโ€™t shop anywhere else. It’s also perfect to get some Tokyo Street Food or Japanese Street Food if you are in the neighborhood. Shinanoya, opened in 1949 going back 3 generations and located just a 3 minute walk from Gotanda station. They uniquely dress their chickens from the start of each morning to deliver the freshest chicken meat and dishes to their customers as possible. One of my favorites is the Karaage Fried Chicken but they server all sorts of Japanese sozai dishes such as yakitori, korroke and chicken menchi.

  1. Do Japanese people sleep less often than Americans? Video after video of these and I keep seeing a pattern of like 5-6 hours of sleep (slept at midnight and has to be at work around 5am????). I definitely sleep more and will sacrifice free time to get an hour or two of more sleep for 7-8.

  2. I suddenly want to get to know the Owner’s brother in law who works out at the gym, a bit more ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. How can they afford to pay their staff if the prices are so low?! At least increase by 100-150y! PLEASE, for the love of god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. You look so tired and eyes swollen. I appreciate your effort to film all these videos which I always enjoyed. Keep it up and great stuff! Rest well โค

  6. Congratulations Paolo! I follow your channel for some time and I am very happy to see your work. I always wanted to live in Japan and through your videos I can learn a lot about the culture and daily life of this fantastic nation. I’m Brazilian and I work with production and post-production. 9. Oof. Close. But I donโ€™t see a chicken slaughter line. *ALMOST* freshest chicky.

I thought these people slaughtered their own chickens from the title of this video and was definitely let down ๐Ÿ˜” . ALTHOUGH that place looks sooooooooo good and I want to try that chicken so badly! ๐Ÿป cheers, great video, thanks!

  13. Its like lobsters that are alive when you toss them in boiling water. This is no different, they pluck all the feathers then throw them on the bbq still alive. Only way to get the freshest chickens…..
