  3. Good on advice #1. But divorce winner is the one who gets custody of the children and get child support. Many professional earn good money, but after child support which is calculated before tax, the non custodial parent, which is 90%+, will be in the poor house.

I know a friend who makes 100k a year. After child support in Maryland calculated 30k for his child, then after taxes, he gets less than 35k a year. While his wife gets a 30k bonus in her income.

GUYS DONT GET MARRIED. IF YOU DO GET A PRENUP AND MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE YOU GET FULL PRIMARY CUSTODY. ONCE YOUR IN COURT AND CHILDREN ARE INVOLVED, you as a MAN WILL NEVER EVER GRT CUSTODY.

  4. Gentlemen, the best way to avoid a costly divorce and a divorce attorney whose only main function is to strip you of everything you have, is DON’T GET MARRIED!

  5. I waited too long to file and my kids are college age and witnessed a very bad example of our marriage. It would have been better if he is gone sooner. The good thing is he doesn’t have to pay any child support.

  6. Disagree about mediation. If mediation would work for you then you don’t need a mediator. What I mean is that mediation requires people who are intelligent and rationale. If you or your spouse cannot behave intelligently and rationally then mediation won’t work for you. If you can behave intelligently and rationally then you don’t need a mediator. Just go to a neutral spot and negotiate your divorce for free.

  7. Help! I’m not your "typical case" and I don’t know how to move forward. I’ve been married for almost 26 years and I recently found out he may be gay and in the closet even though he denies it. I’m disabled and handicapped and I’ve had multiple surgeries and more to come. I cannot live alone now because he’s my caretaker. I can’t live alone anymore and I don’t want to live with a stranger either. He is verbally abusive, now even more than before. I’ve tried everything. He refuses counseling and refuses to work things out. He’s very angry and mean to me. I don’t have a single family member or friends to help and I feel extremely alone, vulnerable being handicapped and abused. I can’t work. I’ve always been married. I don’t know how to move forward. I don’t know what to do. I feel stuck. I’m severely depressed. Please help me. Sad 😥
