I despise word salads but I despise use of “uh” while speaking worse. I used to use “uh” in high school but the more I heard it the more I disliked it. It took a few college literature classes to completely purge it from me. If you haven’t prepared for the message you want to convey, just keep yer mouth shut. When I speak now, I may have a few pauses where I would have dropped an “uh” years ago but a pause looks good if you tell your message right.
