NOIR | Season 5 | Ep.1: POWER

NOIR | Season 5 | Ep.1: POWER

What is the ultimate symbol of power? For some it’s money, God or brute force. More fundamentally, it’s the ability to protect and defend your property, your family and your life. In the season 5 premiere of NOIR, Colion explores the idea of power, how it’s perceived and the empowerment that comes from truly having it.

No longer an anti-gun flower child, season 1 guest Antanique returns to train in Wyoming with Colion and the legendary Chris Costa. Never one to sugar coat his personal firearms journey, Colion reveals his concealed carry emotional rollercoaster ride from shame and fear to confidence and empowerment—and in true NOIR fashion, Chris pushes Colion out on the range with barricade and moving communication drills. To wrap up the episode, Colion sits down with notorious season 4 guests, Ja-Mes and David, for an anti-gun roundtable discussion.

  1. I did the same when I started carrying, still do a little bit. My state I’m aloud to carrying without a permit, it’s been a year since I’ve carried…. I’m probably going to act the same and nervous because, I’m going to start carrying again.. lol

  2. Oh damn they’re so naive. The anti-2Aers have convinced themselves they are brave by not having an effective way to protect themselves. You show me any gun owner that doesn’t have a fear of the power they possess on their hip and I’ll profile that person as a potential active shooter. Here’s the bottom line. Lots of people have read the Constitution or even looked at the ink on the original paper in Washington DC and have no idea what they are looking at. That document is a moment in history when a group of men understood that power is to be feared … not just the power of others but the fear that they themselves had it in them to attain and abuse power. It is a moment of human self awareness that not only the collective you and they, but most importantly without turning to oppression to retain it. A simple Sig Sauer or HK sticker they generously give for free with purchase on my wife’s SUV deters that active shooter who are real and not imaginary from approaching and hurting her or my boys in a very statistically significant way. This isn’t a theory, this is based on actual answers to questions by qualified criminologists to incarcerated killers at a very high percentage. I lived in Brazilian favelas early in life voluntarily. You learn to watch everyone in your field of vision not necessarily for guns or knives but for signals of bad intent. Gun, knife, stick, brick, screwdriver, fist or Brazil where God touched seemingly everyone’s feet with accuracy and power is a real 1% scenario those two people so condescendingly mocked. That 1% will smash your skull not just in the developing world for a cheap Seiko watch but in every town, country road or city in the world. The deterrent of that 1% from happening to every person every day is a combination of not only the actual power to overcome that 1% but more importantly the perception in their crazed mind that they are overpowered. Unrighteous violence is committed by cowards who prey on those they know or more importantly think are defenseless relative to the power they have.

  3. There are 1%’s in millions of things. So with that logic, we cannot sum up everything about absolute power in our ability to protect ourselves. Some people need to be protected from themselves. Power is perception. Period. We don’t live in a country where most people have don’t have guns, but if we did, it would be more ideal to think of power as ability to make choice or money or whatever…but ‘whatever’ is infinitely subjective. I am not against gun ownership. In fact, I just bought my tool yesterday. But the symbol of power and actual power are two different things. You feeling powerful and being powerful are two separate ideas. While the symbol of power you feel by carrying may actually give you an edge if you able to see and anticipate your threat, but what if you don’t even see it coming? Then what? I feel a great deal of power by being able to diffuse or mitigate a threat before it becomes a life threat. That is my symbol of power. Am I enslaved to a certain degree…one might see it that way, but it boils back to down to perception. My ultimate sense of power might be to drive my car at 150mph…but I know if I do and get caught doing it by police, I’d have hell to pay. But wait…that’s my feeling of power! So then should I shoot at the police for trying to take my power. No matter how we paint it, there are constraints in life…it’s called survival. Your feeling and symbol of power will never be the same as it might be for another. Have people enslaved or overtaken others with the threat of violence or the use of violence…absolutely! Is that the real power then? But yet we follow laws…so who has the real power? The argument of the ultimate symbol of power is sort of moot. There is more power in the volume of people who posses a similar idea. While the constitution says that have the right to bear arms, what if the constitution was overthrown by sheer volume and your only choice was to die or live under a new ‘law of the land’ (probably 0% chance of that happening, but…). What would you chose then with your arsenal of firepower? You might get a couple or few, but the sheer volume would overrun you. Whew…so much to say. I should just make a rebuttal video. Hear me out though. While our right to bear arms is indeed our right…freedom of speech…yada yada yada…I am not saying people target you or anyone who ‘boasts’ about what is the ultimate symbol of power is, but say those people who were not as passionate as you are got a hold of your videos. You would literally be at the mercy of the volume of people who sided with you. A greater feeling and symbol of power is not having to feel the need of power. Those who pull strings and you don’t even know how it happened…that’s the real power. Nature is the greatest example of power. It can never go against itself! Okay…that requires a book to explain. I am not trying to say don’t have your guns to protect yourself. The point is do you feel that boasting about fighting to keep your rights or not have them infringed upon gives you a sense of power? Let’s go a step deeper… Say you did have to use your weapon to save your life or that of another. Now what? Maybe PTSD…a life long legal battle. Now, go back to the beginning…power to me is avoiding conflict. And that would be a much more powerful message than boasting about the ultimate symbol of power. I love shooting…it’s exhilarating! Having to protect myself with a firearm may or may not ever happen, and that applies to you. Your passion is your passion…but don’t be a slave to your desire to convince others of your ideas about the symbol of power. Know the difference. There is a scene in The Dark Knight Rises where Bane says to this guy, "So you think that give you power over me…" Bane then proceeds to rip this guy’s face off. Bane dies at the end. Moral of the story is Bane’s passion is what killed him, not his lack of power. Don’t be a slave to your passion…allow it to properly channel your desired outcomes. I think of CIA or some fighting force that you don’t even know exists as powerful. The more you able to predict about a desired outcome, the more powerful you become. I can’t be a target if the target is not presented as a target. That’s power. I am going to leave you with one last example, then I’m done…and if you made it this far, I applaud you. Two cars, occupants in each car is armed. One car mistakenly cuts off the other and attempts to apologize. The other thinks he is about to be attacked and shoots the driver of the other car….following? That wounded driver then shoots the guy driving the car he cut off (the one who shot him)…they both died. That’s a 1%. You can’t make it up…but you fantasize about your reality and hope it plays out the way your mind envisions. Good luck!

  4. I feel like anti gun folks don’t grasp reality OR they’re just stupid. GOD is the ultimate power. I hope these folks get their head right.

  5. The round table irritated me. Never been in a car wreck, yet I wear a seat belt????? Same principal applied. I’d rather have it and not need it., Than need it and not have it!!

  6. They talking bullshit. I live in Jamaica where firearms licenses limit us to handguns and shotguns. A friend of mine just recently was approaching a store and apparently some guys were doing a drive by in front of him, and he just unholstered, got the gun on target, six shots, shooter and driver neutralized, hundreds of lives saved. #ProGun

  7. I’m sure that moving drill has merit, but no suppressing fire on target while the other is moving? Both shooters looking at each other instead of the threat? This is the opposite of basic bounding technique. A French Legionnaire taught me, "never take a step without suppressing fire."

  8. Yo i feel most of what you’re saying but you shouldn’t use manipulation and belittling to try and change people’s views.

  9. LET’S BE REAL HONEST HERE IT’S 2019 AND WE LIVE IN A CULTURE THAT HAS NO RESPECT FOR HUMAN LIVES AND THE CRIMINALS HAVE GOTTEN REAL BOLD LIKE ATTACKING LAW ENFORCEMENT ON TRAFFIC STOPS AND SO ON AND CRIMINALS ARE ROBBING PEOPLE MORE OFTEN THAN EVER BEFORE DAY AND NIGHT SO WITH ALL THAT BEING SAID I DO FEEL MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE KNOWING THAT I AM CARRY A FIREARM TO PROTECT MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND MYSELF IN THE EVENT A SITUATION PRESENTS ITSELF AND I PRAY THAT I NEVER HAVE TO USE MY FIREARM BUT IF I HAVE TO I WILL ; I ALWAYS TELL PEOPLE CARRY A FIREARM TO PROTECT YOUR YOURSELF IS A MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY AND REQUIRES YOU TO THINK BEFORE YOU REACT AND KNOW YOUR SURROUNDINGS AND KNOW THAT YOU YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERY SHOT THAT COMES OUT OF YOUR GUN, SO IF YOU CARRY FOR YOUR LIFE GET THE TRAINING FOR YOUR LIFE. GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND ALWAYS BE READY. 🇺🇲 ✝️ 👍

  10. The power to make a change in your life, the power of self autonomy, the ability to do something. That is what having a gun offers a person. If I’m in a store and someone comes in and just starts shooting I will be a victim without the ability, or the self autonomy to change that outcome. All I could do is hope that I either don’t get shot for some reason, or that if I do get shot that isn’t lethal. If I have a weapon then I can effect that outcome, not only for myself and my life but for the lives of others. I couldn’t have given a better answer than they did. I want the ability to have a chance to protect myself if I ever end up in a life or death situation, so I have gotten the tools and the training to do just that. I’m a paraplegic. I can’t make a mad dash through back doors and hallways or tight spaces, or tackle someone and wrestle and fight with them, and because I’m in a wheelchair I will likely be viewed as an easy target by someone with ill intent. I hope that day never comes and I go through the rest of my life just shooting paper targets. However if that day does come, I am prepared to defend my life and the lives of others. That is the responsibility that I have taken on myself to give me the ability to effect change.

  11. I was gonna comment but I had faith someone else pointed out that he said basically America and she said sure. But they want autonomy! Idiots will always contradict themselves

  12. These 2 people at the end really annoyed me, every single anti gunner colion talks too refuses to even let him finish a sentence

  13. Guns have power put into them to make them useable as weapons.
People who make weapons have power they distribute.
The distribution of standard weapons used in war are for arming infantry of the military.
Soon if anyone wants a gun they will need to join the Reich.

  14. Drop those two off in West Chicago and see if the percentage goes up for them needing a weapon. They are basing their need for a weapon on their current lifestyle and misguided awareness of dangerous parts of America…

  15. Those antis have such cognitive dissonance. How do you protect your self autonomy? How do you stop someone from taking it away? Guns! Obviously!

  16. Hearing those two babble near the end shows they are still brainwashed with the anti gun rhetoric and watching Colin put them int their place was priceless!

  17. I agree and yes, you were. You had alot of self control dealing with those 2 knuckleheads. They were killing me, I absolutely hate listening to the way people like talk. They make no sense. They seems like they could never be faced with a life threatening situation. It happens to other people but will never happen to them mentality. Hypothetical threat, are you serious? You made alot of great points but they just didn’t want to hear, so freakin ignorant. People like that need to stop talking and listen.

  18. "Only one mass shooting was stopped by a CCW, out of 121 shootings." Well, two things: first, almost all mass shootings take place in gun free zones, where the law-abiding won’t carry, but the killers will. Second, you can’t quantify that objectively. For example, the "Draw Mohammed Contest" in Texas, post-Hebdo shooting. Two men with AKs showed up with intent for mass slaughter. They were killed by a 60 year old security guard with a handgun (hardly a fair fight, and hardly a "James Bond"). Was this a mass shooting, by definition? No, because it was stopped before the carnage ensued. This happens much more often than many would like to admit.

  19. Im sorry Noir, but it seems like the two your interviewing can’t seem to grasp reality. Until it’s their life on the line.

  20. Funny that "autonomy" and "self reliance" were their answers but yet "not everyone" should have the power to defend themselves was what they said.

  21. I just feel like okay fine we get it if you don’t want to carry a gun so be it don’t but don’t make us that do carry a gun legally for protection with license feel like the victim because we’re trying to protect our family and friends from people out there that want to do us harm…… and on another note she is acting like when you wake up in the morning you have a note on your refrigerator say hey you’re going to get robbed today at 3 be-prepared……. yeah right!!!!

  22. Thats crazy that’s like saying stds don’t happen to every let’s stop using condoms believe me they should not think like that

  23. A lot of RAPE victims will say you have zero right to prevent me from protecting myself. You can choose to be defenseless, but you can’t decide that I will be. Every RAPE victim thought they were safe or didn’t think about it at all, just like this lady here.

  24. This what irritates me about democrats above anything else. That I need to explain my actions to them of what I need or don’t need. That is bullshit and I will never do that. The Australian guy I just wanted to punch in the neck. With guns there is no explanation, the only explanation I need is the 2nd amendment. After seeing democrat’s leadership on their knees to Antifa/BLM no one is saving my life but me. I saw government fold like a cheap deck of cards and hearing in Seattle and Minneapolis oh just give the looters what they want. I then started ordering guns and lots of them. Now I am pursing training and a concealed license and everything else associated with this. I live in one of those blue states where leftist are only given rights and fuck everyone else.

  25. Self autonomy is ultimate power but i want a right taken away from you that defends all the other right to give you self autonomy

  26. Nice Episode. Chris Costa’s description of why you don’t want to fall into being surpised by the recoil is spot on. I have been in similar situations where you have to exert yourself and the dot is moving quite a bit more than at the range. Good real world problem diagnostics.

  27. Hope I’m not to late to the table, but I just viewed this program. Have had my CCP for a year and don’t carry often. The reason, just what you said here. Thank you so very much stating what I was thinking for the last year. I got my CCP for the reasons you stated as well. I really appreciate you, appreciate your messages, and the spirit and intelligence you bring to our fight to defend 2A. Stay strong and safe!
