Even though I’m not proud of him being born in the same country as me, I think for history and for being more specific you should have mentioned he was born in Gori, Georgia. In fact he was born before USSR was formed.

I don’t think I ever learned that Stalin had a Napoleon complex but it makes absolute sense.
If Soviets would’ve been held accountable for their atrocities the same way Nazis were, I pretty confident that Russia wouldn’t invade Ukraine.

Like many, I knew of Stalin but Bailey has a way of giving us history without turning it into a snooze fest. Excellent delivery of information and I can’t wait for the 2nd part!

Soviet Russia isn’t really the country together with other countries. Russia occupied those smaller countries and forced them on russian beliefs, culture and language. People fought for their freedom from Russia. I’m from one of the countries who got the freedom. And yeah. Those countries weren’t under Russia on their own will. It wasn’t a friendly decision either. A lot of ppl died.

Stalin killed half my family, some of them starved to death others some died as political prisoners in gulags or Siberia.
It’s very sad that all four of my grandparents grew up as orphans, because of Stalin.

In Sweden we always learn about the second world war early and in 8th grade we get to meet survivers. That time we got to meet a russian surviver of the working camps. He told us about the camps, the death total and the aftermath when the war ended and the cold war started. Love history and the darker kind! Thank you for your podd and all the videos <3

Both first books are staples in polish shooling when it comes to talking about literature, Well master and margarita mayebe less but crime and punishment is one of the books we have to know very Well if we want to grafuate highshool Haha (yes we do have a system where you basically cant pass your SATs without thorough knowledge of around 30 books ur meant to reed in highshool)

Hi, Bailey. Thank you for this video. I hope you make one about the Romanov family, too. Because, it’s not just Lenin and Stalin who brought them down, but Rasputin, too. From what I’ve read, the Romanov family has no idea about what’s going on outside the palace. And when they found out, it was too late.
